INITIAL GENERAL SURGERY APPOINTMENTS

INITIAL GENERAL SURGERY APPOINTMENT (30 mins) - $220 

Includes:

• 1/2 hour Initial General surgery consultation with Dr Michael Hatzifotis - $220 fee (Medicare rebate: $81.30 as at Nov 2023)
• $110 fee for any further review consultations before surgery
• Valid GP or Specialist referral required
• Completed patient information form and signed privacy consent form required
• Thorough assessment (ie: medical history, surgical history, dietary history and assessment of eating behaviours, thorough physical examination)
• Discuss appropriateness for surgery
• Surgical options explained
• Questions answered
• Discuss relevant pre-operative tests required
• Discuss detailed informed consent including risks of surgery

Before any General Surgery Procedure can be booked, you will be required to make an appointment with Dr Michael Hatzifotis who will conduct a thorough assessment of your medical history, discuss your options, appropriateness & risks associated with surgery and answer any questions.

Please allow half an hour (30mins) for this consultation.

The fee for the Initial consultation is $220 and is due on the day of the consultation. If you have a valid Medicare card and have paid the consultation fee in full, our admin team can submit the Medicare rebate on your behalf and a rebate of $81.30 will be paid into your nominated bank account.

A valid referral from your GP or Specialist is required for this appointment and may be emailed/faxed to our rooms prior to your appointment.

Once an Initial appointment is booked, you will be sent a letter with details about the appointment and our location. A patient information form and privacy consent form is required to be completed and returned.

Your appointment will need to be confirmed days prior and you will receive a reminder from us by text, email or phone.

If you cannot attend your appointment, at least 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule.

After your consultation, if surgery is booked, you will receive information about your surgery and will be advised of any associated out of pocket fees due.   Payment for surgery is required at least 1 week before surgery.

A post-op review appointment with Dr Hatzifotis will be scheduled for after surgery. There will be no charge for this post op appointment.

Out of Pocket Fee for Insured Patients: An out of pocket fee of up to $500 (max) may be charged, depending on the procedure/s, length of procedure and assistant surgeon used on the day of surgery. You will be advised of this out of pocket fee when booking surgery, and will need to sign an Informed Financial Consent form.  This fee is charged outside of what your Health Fund will cover, and is NOT eligible for a rebate from Medicare or your Health Fund.
